"A LOGO THAT WAS SOO OUTSIDE MY NICHE.. BUT BOY DID I HAVE FUN MAKING THIS FOR An aspiring GAMER/STREAMER"
The story
When you get a client under the recommendation of someone who admired your previous work, you just know you’re in for a fun project! And so when I got the call up to do PR0Y0L0's (o's are zeros) logo, I just couldn't contain my excitement. After receiving the client questionnaire, I knew I was going to be making a logo that was soo outside my niche.. but boy did I have fun making this for a very talented gamer/streamer such as PR0Y0L0.
I myself am an avid gamer and I literally had to immerse myself in the world of twitch and e-sports as my research prior to creating. I am a logo designer that specialises in the field of contemporary visual identities and throughout the process, I learnt so many skills and tips used by graphic designers that actually have a living in making gamer/e-sport logos and banners. It was fair to say that this was an education and soon my mood board was lit up with colours, cartoon demons, gradient fonts and human cartoon recreations.
So the time came when i had to present the above logos to PROY0L0 and im not gna lie.. I was S%&T scared! you see 'typing..' on the wattsapp banner and then you hold your breath.. seconds later my phone lit up with 'OMGGG' and 'GOKULLLLL' and 'THIS IS AMAZINGGG!!'.. And then you breathe a sigh a relief!
Working with PR0Y0L0 was a successful challenge and what I loved about PR0Y0L0 was that he would provide me suggestions and ideas as well as give me his patience and optimism and together we created something that was unique. I hand created the logotype using a pre-existing font family on the software package but edits to every letter were made to maintain the integrity and colour gradient that can be seen both on a coloured and white background. The picture of PR0Y0L0 was coloured and textured with gentle brush strokes to blend all the details together. The cartoon premise was inspired by the logo of ‘the MTVB podcast’ which a good friend of mine runs and broadcasts. The lion was pre-made and to this I added some more pen strokes to highlight the jagged side burns and eyes of the lion masthead. It was important to keep the colours and 'cool blue' feel consistent with both the banner and logo packages. The warmth in the blues and blacks highlight just how cool and warm this streamer's personality is.
PR0Y0LO is a streamer/gamer who streams on the streaming heavyweight that is twitch. Its such a pleasure to see him owning his opponents with his squad of friends who bring both humour and fun to the experience as they play to the backdrop of my logo/banner. Follow him as 'PR0Y0L0' on twitch, youtube and twitter, you wont regret it!
